Hey guys! Today I am reviewing this liquid lipstick, matte single, from the Kylie Cosmetics line. This particular shade is called 22. (I think i bought it because it was the only one without the ‘K’ in it’s name !!)

My experience: Okay, first things first. I am not very fond of the Kardashian clan (to put it mildly). (I do not endorse/support everything that those women do to spurn the paparazzi or just to get some attention. But my opinions of them would in no way reflect in my review of this product.
So, now that we have that out of the way.. let’s take this review forward!
The liquid lipstick comes packaged in a color-coded cardboard box with the logo of the brand, the one with the ‘melting lips’.
The lipstick comes in a transparent plastic tube, with a black plastic cap. In my opinion, it’s a pretty standard packaging, nothing outstanding.
The applicator of this product is a standard doe-foot sponge tip, just like you get with several other liquid lipsticks and glosses.
The consistency of this product is very smooth and ‘mousse-like’ and instantly reminds you of the NYX Soft matte lip creams. It applies smoothly without any pull. It feels quite light when freshly applied.
This lipstick takes about 30-45 seconds to dry, so you have to be swift and precise in your application. Layering it would not give you a good result and the separate layers would stand out. It’s better to apply one thin layer and wait for it to dry down completely, before going for a second layer if need be.
Once the lipstick is completely dry on the lips, it settles to a true matte finish. It feels quite comfortable initially but after a few hours, it starts to feel a bit dry. Also, if there are dry flakes on your lips, this will make them more prominent. However, it does not settle in the cracks of the lips.
The pigmentation of these is good but not great. On one swatch, you can still see a bit of my skin underneath. Pigmentation wise too, they remind me of the NYX Soft Matte lip creams.
Longevity of these is decent. They last on my lips for about 6 hours, with light snacking in between. However, if i eat a heavy meal, then these start to fade away slightly from the centre of my lips.
These are not waterproof, but are smudge-resistant and transferproof.
These lipsticks have a slight cake-like fragrance, more like an uncooked cake batter. However, there is no scent or flavor upon application.
These lipsticks come off with soap and water but for complete removal, an oil based makeup remover is recommended.
The shade i have is called ’22’ It’s described as a ‘vibrant burnt orange’ ! I totally agree! Its a good mix of orange with red undertones. The shade is a perfect spring/summer shade but there are no rules in makeup and i can totally wear this on a cold, foggy wintery evening too! I think this shade would look amazing on an tan/medium/olive skin tone!
Dupes: These lipsticks or their lip kits are not easily available in India yet, I have purchased mine online. So, here are a lip products from my vanity that look similar.
- Loreal Moist Matte Lipstick in Flaming Kiss
- NYX Soft Matte lip cream in Amsterdam
- MAC Matte Lipstick Lady Danger
Over all, this is a decent product but it has been supremely over-hyped. In my opinion, it is almost like every other liquid lipstick on the block. It is a bit drying for my lips and does not even go opaque on my medium pigmented lips.
I would rate it a 3.5/5 with a side rating of “OVER HYPED” !
