Today I have an in-depth review of the latest kajal pencils by MAC, the Modern Twist Kajal Liner. I have 2 shades : Cat’s Meow & Nothing On.

My Experience : So school’s off and i have been enjoying the vacations with my son thoroughly, that’s the reason i have been away from my beloved blog. Another reason being, i wanted to try out these liner pencils for at least 2-3 weeks before reviewing them on the blog.
If you have been following me on my Youtube channel, then you must have seen these in my MAC Haul video a couple of weeks ago. My first impression about these was really good, but you know how first impressions can be deceptive at times.
Mac launched these eye liner pencils in May and i had to grab them ASAP because i love the Technakohl liners by MAC. I swatched all of them and posted on my social media, and the feedback was phenomenal 🙂
Now that i have tested them thoroughly, i can give you all a comprehensive opinion.
MAC Modern Twist Liner pencils come packaged in the typical MAC black cardboard box, with all necessary product information mentioned on it. The actual product is housed in exact same packaging as the Technakohl ones, in a twist-up form.
The pencil only twists up, and cannot be twisted back in. So one has to be careful of not twisting up excess product.
The tip is well-formed on a new pencil, but goes a bit blunt with constant use. There is no sharpening or re-shaping device attached with the product.
There is no scent/fragrance to these.
The liner pencils are very creamy in consistency and almost feel like eyeliner gel! They glide on like butter!! There is absolutely no tugging, no pulling of the eyelids.
These pencils are even waterline safe. They did not irritate my sensitive eyes whatsoever.
These eye pencils are waterproof, smudge-resistant & transfer-proof. Now anyone who lives in a hot & humid climate like me, or has eyelid hoods like or has oily eyelids like.. would know how much i appreciate these features in an eye product! I have worn these in sweltering heat & humidity with sweat dripping down my brows and this liner did not budge!
They can be used as eyeshadows as well, they do not crease and last up to 10 hours. They take a few seconds to set, so you have that leeway to smudge it or blend it before it settles.
These liners come in 13 different shades. The shade range is quite nice, there are mattes as well as shimmery shades. I honestly think there is something for everyone. All shades are very pigmented and give rich color in one stroke. The color pay off on eyelids is excellent.

The two shades i have are:
Cat’s Meow : A very rich matte black, perfect for everyday wear/smoky look
Nothing On : Off-white peachy shade in matte finish,can be used in waterline to make eyes look wider and used as an eyeshadow base.

Over all, I love this product for its quality & pigmentation and the fact that it does not budge at all 🙂 It’s quite surprising that MAC has launched these at this price point, I would say they are an absolute steal! They are still available at MAC counters,go grab them while you can!
The only con is, I really wish there was a sharpening device with it for me to reshape the tip of the liner.
I would rate them a 4.9/5.
