What’s OLD at the Drugstore?! // All-Time Drugstore Favorites – TOP 10

Hi everyone!

I was reading through some of the comments on my Socials, and i felt as though some people thought of me to be a High-End/Luxury makeup snob or an Elitist or something, who likes only really expensive stuff and trashes everything cheap. This is not even close to the truth! i only look for quality and value-for-money, and just so happens that those attributes are more common in high-end products.

Having said that, there are certain gems of the Drugstore market that i have been loving and repurchasing all my life and i really wanted to share them with everyone.

Most of these products must be known to you all, they have been around for quite a while, so i would take you through them very quickly!

  • Sunscreens : I use sunscreen every single day of my life and have tried a ton of them from drugstore as well as high end. The ones that i think work the best for my type of sensitive, acne prone, combination skin are :

Drugstore Favorites Top 10 : Neutrogena Ulta sheer Sunscreens & Loreal UV Perfect Even Complexion Sunscreens with SPF 50+
  1. Neutrogena ultra sheer SPF 50+ : very light weight, hypoallergenic, does not affect makeup underneath it. it gives a dewy finish and no visible white cast.its perfect for sensitive skin.
  2. L’Oreal UV perfect SPF 50+ Even Complexion light weight, gel like, absorbs and blends well, this is a tinted sunscreen and gives sheer coverage. its perfect when you want a slight coverage but don’t want to wear any base makeup.
  3. Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry Touch Sunblock SPF 50+:  This is a cream based sunscreen that i use over the body, not face. I find it a little too heavy for face as my skin is sensitive. Its sweat resistant and water proof, so perfect for water related activities or gymming too.

Price: INR 500 approx for each

Drugstore Favorites Top 10 : Lakme CC Cream

  • Lakme CC Cream with SPF 20:  CC traditionally means Color Correction but lakme’s version of CC stands for Complexion Care. This is a fancy name for essentially a BB cream, but in my opinion, its the best drugstore BB cream. It has a thicker consistency than most other BB creams, but blends very easily on skin. It gives a medium coverage, really does make your face look ‘clean’. It has a matte finish, with a SPF of 20. Its a bit drying for me so i have to use a good moisturizer underneath, and i always top it up with a sunscreen as SPF 20 is just not enough for the Indian sun. Also, it lasts about 5-6 hours on me, pretty  good for this price. It has only 2 shades, which is a big problem. I wish they would come up with at least 2 more shades.

Price: INR 265 for 30ml

Drugstore Favorites Top 10: Lakme Absolute Gel Stylist Nail Polish in Tomato Tango & Coral Rush
  • Lakme Absolute Gel Stylist nail paints: There is no dearth of options for cheap, affordable nail paints but they usually chip off within a day or two. But not these babies! These are hands down my most favorite nail paint formula ever, even though i love my Essie ones too. They win majorly because of their amazing chip resistant gel based formula and strong pigmentation, lasting almost 10 days on me. Even though they are not very cheap, they are totally worth the money. Two of my most favorite shades are Tomato Tango, Coral Rush. I do wish they came in smaller size bottles too as i have never been able to finish an entire bottle.

Price: INR 400 for 15ml

Drugstrore Favorites Top 10: Sally Hansen Moisturizing Nail Polish Remover
  • Sally Hansen Moisturizing Fast & Gentle nail Polish Remover: I love this particular one because it is for dry, brittle nails and it really is gentle. Sometimes the so called gentle nail polish removers don’t do a good job of removing the nail polish as they lack acetone, however this one really does everything it says! Do grab it if you find it, its not too easily available everywhere.

Price: INR275 for 236.5ml or 8oz

Drugstore Favorites Top 10: Revlon Colorstay Foundation
  • Revlon Colorstay 24 Hrs Foundation Normal/Dry skin in Fresh Beige with SPF 20:  Its safe to say i generally dislike all drugstore foundations. Its very hard to find the correct shade, right finish, decent coverage , something that doesn’t break you out, or make you look white! And almost all drugstore foundations are made for oily to normal skin, which means basically for teenage skin that doesn’t need much coverage anyways! Revlon Colorstay is an exception to most of those woes. It works well for my dry/combination skin, gives natural finish and has medium coverage. It doesn’t break me out into acne and feels very light weight. It does have an impressive longevity, will get you through all day.

Price : INR 995 for 30ml

Drugstore Favorites Top 10: LactoCalamine Lotions
  • Lacto Calamine Oil Control Lotion : I am pretty sure everyone from India already knows this. Its been used in my for generations! Calamine is a known therapeutic skin remedy. And Lacto calamine now comes in different variants for oily skin as well as combination skin. I have both as in peak summers i use the oily skin one. It gives a matte finish, sheer coverage, hydration, soothing n cooling effect to the skin as well as acne control, all thanks to ingredients like Kaolin, Zinc Oxide & Glycerin. Its like the original BB cream in lotion form! I don’t even remember how many i have purchased till now.

Price :INR 60-144 for 30ml/120ml

Drugstore Favoorites Top 10 : Loreal True Match Mineral Powder Foundation W3
  • Loreal True Match The Minerals Powder Foundation with SPF 15:  Okay, so how many times you have bought a powder foundation but got nothing more than a powder compact effect from it? Try this one! This is one of my most used products especially in summers or when i am travelling. Just one layer of moisturizer and a light dusting of this, and i am out of the door! It blends beautifully, finely milled, has no preservative/perfume/oil and doesn’t clog pores. Best of all, is really does conceal!

Drugstore Favoorites Top 10 : Loreal True Match Mineral Powder Foundation W3

And look at the packaging! it comes with a handy, fluffy brush which is not the best brush ever but still quite decent in my opinion. It really does come in handy when you are on the go. If you can find the correct shade for yourself, you must grab it. I use W3 in summers and W1 in winters.

Price: INR 1350 for 10g

Drugstrore Favorites Top 10 : Loreal Gentle Makeup Remover
  • Loreal Gentle lip & eye makeup remover for waterproof makeup : This makeup remover has been a god-sent. It removes even those stubborn waterproof mascaras with ease without causing any allergic reactions. In my opinion, its better than most high-end makeup removers!

Price: INR 425 for 125ml

Drugstore Favorites Top 10 : Loreal Volume Million Lashes Excess mascara
  • Loreal Volume Million Lashes mascaras :  Hands down the best drugstore mascaras ever! They volumize, lengthen as well as separate lashes so well that i rarely have to use false lashes. Different varieties spoil you for choice and i end up picking a new one from duty-free every time i am travelling somewhere. I have already reviewed this particular one earlier and you can read about it here

Price : INR 800-1000 approx

Drugstore Favorites Top 10 : Revlon Color Burst Matte Balms in Sultry & Stand Out
  • Revlon Colorburst Matte Balms : OMG! What formula is this from Revlon! I  generally don’t like drugstore lipsticks as they are drying and don’t last too long. But these are amazing. Each one of these have been touted to be a dupe for MAC lipsticks but  i don’t think they are exact dupes.

Drugstore Favorites Top 10 : Revlon Color Burst Matte Balms in Sultry & Stand Out

I have the shades Sultry & Stand Out. Sultry is by far my most used lip color ever!! its the most perfect MLBB shade for me with a spark. I have been asked which lip color i am wearing EVERY SINGLE TIME i have worn this, not joking! Its supposed to be a dupe for MAC Twig. Stand Out is a deeper red shade which is a bit like MAC Viva Glam 1, however it doesn’t seem to last too long on me.

Pigmentation on these is on point, with a creamy matte finish. If you haven’t ever owned these, you need this in your life!
