The festivities have finally begun.. Diwali parties and wedding functions are lined up! I generally am very peppy around this time of the year!!
With so many functions to go to, i mostly rely on kohl/lined eyes and soft lips as my go-to look.
But it gets very irritating when my eye liner starts to smudge after few hours or stings my eyes or BOTH. So the main reason i picked up this product from the drugstore was the insane claim it makes to last 36 HOURS on the eyes!!! Is that true?
Let me break down this product for you all..
L’oreal Paris 36H Super Liner Gel Intenza is a gel eyeliner that comes packaged in a outer cardboard box with black and gold color theme.
Inside this, you get the actual product along with an eyeliner brush.
The gel eyeliner comes in a small glass pot with a sexy gold lid made of plastic that looks very luxurious. The bottom of the glass pot has product details mentioned on a sticker.
The consistency of the eyeliner is obviously gel-like but a tad bit more crumbly.
It applies very smoothly without any tugs or pulls on both the eyes and hand swatches. It takes a few seconds to dry, giving you sufficient time to manipulate the product the way you want.. smudge it to create smoky look or create sharp wings.
The product is quite pigmented but the color payoff on the eyes does not come off as much as the hand swatches. I have to layer on the product a couple of times before getting the rich color i want. It gives a satin black finish, not too glossy but not totally matte.

The product is water resistant but not completely water/oil proof in my opinion. If would not smudge with just water but it does fade away considerably if washed and rubbed with soap water. It can be easily removed with any makeup remover.
It wears comfortably throughout the day and did not cause any irritation to my eyes.
As a rule, i don’t wear gel liner on my waterline. This can be worn over the upper lashline and lower lashline comfortably.
The longevity of the eyeliner, the BIG claim, kind of fell flat for me. After about 7-8 hours, the eyeliner starts to fade away a bit although it didn’t smudge. The color intensity noticeably diminishes by the end of the day. I have never even tried to wear it 24 hours, let alone 36 hours.
The eyeliner brush that comes with the product, has a slightly dome-shaped tip and it’s oddly too fluffy for an eyeliner brush in my opinion. The bristles are quite soft and comfortable on the eyes. But the shape does not help in precise application or making sharp wings with the eye liner. You can make thin lines with it if you dip the tip of brush in the gel and swipe off the excess on the edge of the pot, flattening the brush. It’s a little more tedious than just swiping on an eye pencil or even a felt tip eyeliner. I tend to use my own eyeliner brush with it than the one provided.
The brush becomes slightly hard and stiff after each application. I recommend washing it after every use. Also, all gel liners tend to dry out in contact with air. So keep the lid tightly shut while storing it and don’t keep the lid open for long during application.
Overall, I would recommend this eyeliner to anyone who wants to apply eyeliner in different styles with a precise brush and to anyone who wants to have the gel liner experience. As for the totally crazy claim of lasting 36 hours, i wouldn’t count on it. For me, i would still stick to my trusty MAC technakohl liner when i am in a hurry.
